Oral Health Assessments

Dentistry2U is providing complimentary oral health checks for care home residents – but how does this differ from a full dental examination?

An Oral Health Care Assessment (OHCA) is a simple but important check carried out by a dental professional to understand the overall health of your mouth. Instead of being a treatment, it’s more of a health review where we look closely at your teeth, gums, tongue, and other soft tissues. We also take into account your medical and dental history to get the full picture. If anything needs attention—such as a cleaning, a filling, or signs of infection—it will be highlighted during the assessment. As part of every OHCA, we also carry out an oral cancer screening to make sure any early warning signs are not missed.

Whatever your concern, our mobile dental team will thoroughly assess your oral health and provide the care you need — right in the comfort of your own home.

When Should You Book an Oral Health Assessment?

An oral health assessment is the first step to maintaining a healthy smile and preventing future dental problems.

How it Works

A Home Visit from Our Dentist

We’ll come to your home, nursing home, or hospital bed with all the necessary diagnostic equipment to carry out a comprehensive and comfortable oral health assessment.

Careful Examination & Consultation

A highly experienced member of our team will conduct a detailed oral examination and record a comprehensive medical history. They will then provide expert guidance on the findings, guaranteeing you feel confident and fully informed about the quality of care and any resulting recommendations.

Gentle, Professional Extraction

We administer a gentle local anaesthetic to numb the treatment area, ensuring you experience little to no pain during the procedure. The tooth is then meticulously cleaned and the restoration is completed with careful attention to your comfort.

Aftercare and Healing Advice

Following your treatment, we’ll provide you with clear instructions on how to look after your mouth to ensure proper healing and long-term success. We’ll also advise you on diet, recommended cleaning routines, and when to schedule your follow-up care.
